We will search for contributors that can post their solutions as well as contributors posting their real life computer issues and problems.

Q: When I first bought my computer it was so fast, but now it seems slow, what has happened?

A: There are a number of reasons why your computer seems to have slowed down. Applications get more sophisticated and complicated each year, they require more and more computer power with each new version, mostly they require more random access memory (RAM) especially if you like to run more than one application at a time, called multi-tasking. A newer machine with a faster processor can handle this better, but this is not always necessary, it is possible, in fact likely that you can speed up your machine by adding more RAM. This can be done by the end user, however if you don’t feel comfortable poking around the insides of your computer call a professional, it is an inexpensive way to bring new life, and speed to an old computer. Also, when your computer was new it had very few files on the hard drive, as you use your system you continually add files and can fill up a hard drive making it run slower. Consider doing a disk cleanup and a defrag on your hard drive on a regular basis to maintain optimum speed. PC2
